The Project:
Lexi's Toybox Website

The Challenge:

With just a basic two page informational website, Lexis Toy Box had zero traction online. This site needed more than just a simple redesign. It needed a tactical approach that would get the site noticed by search engines, and a design that communicated what made Lexis Toy Box different from every other toy store in Ann Arbor. Because that difference would have to be enough to get visitors to drive down to the shop; since Lexis does not sell online.

The Solution:

Size, depth and contextual relevance are three things that search engines love. But those technical design principles don't mesh well with a website for a family owned toy store that specializes in organic toys. In simpler terms – you can't put the horse before the cart. Your tactics must support the vision, not define it.

The goal of the Lexis Toy Box website is to provide a warm and inviting experience that reflects the charm and personality of the brick and mortar store. When you ‘walk' in through the front door of the site, it's immediately clear to you where you are. With the use of physical objects as navigation and design elements, large colorful walls and fun fonts – this site emotes of the comforts of a child's playroom.
